Hi there…I have been fooling around in the mud since I first took an art elective in 1972 at the University of Tennessee. In those days, there was no BFA offered so while I remained an English major, I kept on spending an inordinate amount of time in the studio (affectionately referred to as the ‘potshop’). I worked in and near clay until 1976, took a long break ( travels, work, starting and raising a family) and got back into it about 15 years ago. I tend to work almost exclusively in functional high-fired stoneware. My glazing is what I refer to as controlled chaos. I spray almost everything with lots and lots of layers, looking like all the world like a crazed spray glazer reaching for a bit of this, some of that and so on. I like the soft, nuanced, layered look that spraying multiple glazes gives.
